Buying Things at the Dollar Store.

There is this way that our mind plays tricks on us, where we're much more inclined to spend $20 in twenty $1 increments, rather than spending the full $20 on one thing. It's why people spend so much money at the strip club: it's just so darn easy to lose track of how many dollar bills you've shoved down that stripper's panties (in the US, anyway).

The same is true for people who shop at the dollar store, myself included. You just find so many things you're willing to spend a single loonie on something you didn't think you needed. You convince yourself that you need it, and since it's so cheap, you just HAVE to get it. Today, I bought Tarp. You know, that big blue sheet you use to cover your car or boat so rain doesn't get in there. I didn't just buy one. I bought two. Two 4x6ft tarps...for no real reason except that they were only 1.25+tax each. I also purchased a microfibre cloth, fine-tip markers, epoxy glue, and very nearly purchased myself another laser pointer. Eventually, I stopped looking for stuff, because I didn't want to spend TOO MUCH money. But yeah, I still have no real use for the Tarp(s). Tablecloth? Floor runner for my student house? Probably the second one, since one of my roommates has a dog that before I decided to live there, defecated and urinated in my room on a regular basis. The poo is gone, but the stains remain...as a reminder that I'm getting shafted on this deal. I'm pretty sure my room was like... a workout/utility room for the rest of the house converted into a legitimate bedroom. I don't mind though, the shelves in my closet are already labelled for my weights. :)

Anyway, this is getting to be a little tl:dr. So I'm done.

man, i suck at posting in here. too busy with the porn and the cigarettes I suppose. who knows? maybe i'm just trying to live my life or something, and not spend all my time on the computer.

that's a lie, i'm on the the computer all the time, i just can't figure out what the fuck to write in here sometimes. I hear funny things all the time, but I always forget them by the time I get back to my apartment and login to the blog. Sad sad life.

Yeah, I know... I was supposed to dissect some song lyrics the other day. Boo hoo, I felt lazy that afternoon, but you expected that, right?

Anyway, I saw "Inception" the other day with my buddy Walter. I would describe the movie in its entirety, but I think enough people have been raving about the movie, so I will resist the urge to talk about it. I will just say it was a fantastic movie. I love the whole premise of the thing.

yeah, i've been lazier than usual. shocking. I hurt my neck yesterday morning, so I don't really feel like doing anything than watching the Family channel and maybe, maybe, play guitar. who knows.

So I was thinking I might start discussing, more like ripping apart the lyrics of today's popular music. Just because I find it amusing. I think you (the reader) might too. I will start with Taio Cruz's "Dynamite"... later on today, because I'm too lazy right now.

So this past Sunday was the final day of Beerfest 2010.

I was feeling so tired from having such little sleep over the previous 6 days, but no matter, I was getting to see some of my old friends, so I got in the car with my buddy Walter and we headed down to Toronto to my Twin friends' place. The one who set this whole group outing, one Laurie Karnis, was considerate enough to remember I was lactose intolerant when she ordered food for all of us. So she ordered me a vegan pizza. Problem was, they put feta cheese on it. That's not vegan, but whatever. I ate it anyway.

We get to the place, and were given a plastic cup, and 5 drink tokens. First drink I sample is 2 tokens, so clearly, this was going to prove to be an expensive day. By the time the Fest closes, I'm pretty buzzed, closer to the drunk side, standing on the streetcar while a bunch of drunk Fest-ers are chanting random songs. I wanted to join in, but I resisted. I can't be a douchebag all the time.

Anywho, the majority of the group proceeded to go to sushi for dinner, but I was full...of beer, so I went to a pub with my friend Garrett to drink MORE beer.

10:30pm, everyone meets back up, some people part ways, and we end up back at the Twins' place. I was fairly inebriated at this point, so 5 minutes after Laurie throws on an episode of True Blood, I'm passed out.

Beer + Friends - $120 = good times!

I haven't posted in a while. I apologize, I've been busy.

...that's a lie. I've just been lazy.

But yeah.

Went to the Elora Gorge yesterday with my family and my cousins and stuff.

We ate various barbecued items, then sat around, played cards, smoked cigarettes, and made fun of each other over a duration of 8 hours. Pretty standard.

Shiny things are TME

They're nice to look at, sure. They scream of prestige and cleanliness. But the maintenance of a shiny stainless steel surface is much TME for my taste. I prefer the scratchy, buffed metal look. That requires nearly no maintenance. I scratched my shiny new iPod the other day, and the little vain voice inside my head cried for days. I am however, a pragmatist, and as such, to never have to worry about blemishing the "perfect" surface of the iPod ever again, I chose to make it imperfect. So I took 600-grade sandpaper and made the metal backing of the device nice and rough, removing the scratch, slightly fading the Apple logo, and making it look like it's been used quite a bit. I don't worry about scratches anymore. It'll just add to the aesthetic I've created.

Long weekend activities - What NOT to do: Part One

So this weekend was a long one. I don't know which holiday it was, and honestly, I don't really care. Saturday, got home from work around 7am.

I started the weekend with my standard workout. I realized that the last month of exercise was not as strenuous as I thought, because as I increased the amount of weight I use on my dumbbells, I struggled a lot more than I usually did. So I'm hoping to get more results from now on.

After the workout, I had lunch with the family (which consists of mom, dad, and my sister Amanda) at this buffet on Kennedy and Courtneypark called Wasabi. It's called a Grand Buffet because it contains Chinese, Japanese, and Korean food. It's not a bad place to eat, but there are better places too.

Following lunch, Amanda and I went to our friend Jon's place, because it was his father's birthday. We struggled for 20 minutes trying to set up the volleyball net in his backyard. The boundaries were small, because there were many obstacles on the outskirts of the court.

After enjoying volleyball and playing on the Wii for a few hours, I went to see an old friend of mine. We got to talking, and I forgot that I had left the radio on for approximately two hours! So when I left said friend, my car wouldn't start. I didn't realize the battery was dead until after Jon had to fetch my father and bring him around to boost the car. I was terrified I had caused some permanent damage. But thankfully, no. So yeah, don't leave your battery running for a long time. It's not good for business.
